German press expects Audi to shuffle exec deck

Winterkorn: Not squelching the rumors

A senior management shake-up is in the works at Audi. According to German media reports, Volkswagen marketing chief Luca de Meo will replace Audi sales boss Peter Schwarzenbauer, who once headed Porsche's North American sales arm.

Product development chief Michael Dick and production boss Frank Dreves are also thought to be on shaky ground. According to the reports, Dick will make way for Wolfgang Duerheimer, the current head of Bentley and Bugatti. VW production chief Hubert Waltl is a possible successor to Dreves.

Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn hasn't exactly squelched the rumors. Winterkorn, who is chairman of Audi's supervisory board, said there have been discussions about the future of the leadership team, but so far "no decision."

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler is said to want to rejuvenate and restructure his management board as a part of his growth strategy. Stadler aims to sell 2 million cars by 2020. During the first four months of this year, Audi's global sales increased 12 percent to 471,300 vehicles.
