TRW wins contracts for electric brake systems

LIVONIA, Mich. - TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. says it will produce electric parking brakes for two automakers in North America. It would not name the automakers. TRW will start producing them for model year 2013. The parking brake is activated with a control switch rather than a foot pedal or hand lever. According to TRW, an electric parking brake is up to 16 pounds lighter than some conventional parking brakes used for full-sized pickups.
