MG, the famed British brand now owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., revealed sketches of the Icon concept vehicle.

The compact SUV, scheduled to be unveiled at this week's Beijing auto show, is said to preview a production model to be introduced in China in 2014.

With styling cues from the MGB GT sold in North America from 1965 to 1974, the Icon is based on the same underpinnings as the Chinese-market Roewe 350, MG 5 and MG 6.
