GENEVA -- A Bentley at a tailgate party?
Indeed, the ultra-luxury carmaker could very well put a new, more upscale twist on a beloved American pastime -- the football tailgate.
At the Geneva auto show this week, Bentley showed off a concept for its first SUV ever, a behemoth of a vehicle with a spacious interior and the finest of the fine in luxury details -- i.e. reversible silk-wool floor mats. If built, the Bentley EXP 9 F – "F" standing for Falcon -- is expected to be one of the fastest and most expensive SUVs on the market, brand officials say.
But one of its best features -- a two-piece tailgate -- can only be experienced at a standstill.
The tailgate features a "viewing bench" or "picnic table." Just inside the trunk are wood-woven "picnic hampers" with linen cloths, ceramic plates and glass cocktail glasses. And if it's a rainy day, don't worry Bentley literally will have you covered.
"Two umbrellas fit either side of the rear luggage area for when the rain clouds sweep in," the press release says.
No kegorator or beer coolers included -- at least not for now. But that could still change. After all, this is only a concept.
