Ferrari will launch a successor to the 599 GTB Fiorano two-seat coupe next month at the Geneva auto show that is lighter and more compact than the car it replaces.
The still unnamed new model -- code-named F152 -- is powered by a 6.3-liter direct-injection V-12 engine. Performance is beefed up to 700 hp from 620 hp in the 599.
The supercar also gets a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to replace the 599's six-speed automated manual.
The price will be slightly more than the 599 GTB Fiorano F1, which in Italy starts at 260,000 euros, or about $341,000. European deliveries begin in June and U.S. shipments by year end.
The F152, designed jointly by Pininfarina and Ferrari's design department, led by Flavio Manzoni, is said to be more compact and lower than the 599 GTB.
Like the 599 GTB, the layout is front-mid-engine, with an aluminum spaceframe and aluminum body panels.
The F152 completes a renewal of Ferrari's range that began in September 2009 with the 458 Italia coupe. The four-seat FF was unveiled at last year's Geneva show and the 458 Spider debuted at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
