Toyota Industries to open compressor factory in Georgia

ATLANTA -- Toyota Industries Corp. will invest $350 million to build a 600,000 square-foot plant in Pendergrass, Ga., to produce automotive compressors.

The factory will produce components formerly manufactured in Japan and exported to the United States.

Toyota Industries supplies compressors to Toyota, Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Co., General Motors and others.

Toyota Industries employs more than 40,000 workers and generated sales of $18.5 billion in fiscal 2011.
