Experian Automotive has begun selling Velocity, a Web-based program that analyzes local-market competitive data, to dealers.

The program initially was pitched to automakers, and Volvo was the first to use it. Data can be broken down to vehicle segments, brands and customer loyalty. Tim Titus, Experian's senior product manager, said dealers can sort data from Velocity "to see who are the top makes selling in their region.

They can sort in descending order to see the dealers in the area and find out who's performing and who's not."
