EPA chief to speak at World Congress

DETROIT -- EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson will be a featured speaker at the 2012 Automotive News World Congress. She will speak Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 10.

Jackson, a chemical engineer, started with the EPA in 1987 as a staff scientist. She spent several years in the EPA's Region 2 office in New York. Jackson joined the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in 2002 and was appointed commissioner of that agency in 2006.

She was appointed to her current post by President Obama and has led the EPA since 2009.

The theme of the 2012 Automotive News World Congress is "Revived and Remodeled: The Path to Global Growth." The event will be held Jan. 10-12 at the Marriott hotel in the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.
