BorgWarner Inc. on Wednesday sold its tire pressure monitoring business to Germany’s Huf Electronics GmbH.
I’m betting BorgWarner CEO Tim Manganello is saying, “Good riddance.”
The false tire-pressure alert light is even more common, especially in cold weather, than the annoying “check engine” alert.
Tire-pressure monitors may not be a source of high-payout lawsuits, but those alerts are beyond frustrating. I’m betting they pull down customer-satisfaction scores, which in turn would have automakers’ griping -- loudly -- to the offending supplier.
Who needs the aggravation? Apparently, Huf more than BorgWarner.
