Invista to expand nylon yarn production

Invista, a supplier of nylon yarn for airbags, is expanding production capacity at its plant in Kingston, Ontario.

The company plans to add 7,000 tons of production capacity, with construction to begin later this year.

Invista also plans to expand production in its plants in Qingpu, China, and Gloucester, United Kingdom. The expansion could cost several hundred million dollars, the company said.

Invista, of Wichita, Kan., is a major producer of polymers and fibers for nylon, spandex and polyester.
