Chosen because: In addition to being the boss of Honda's global r&d effort, Kawanabe, 59, is a managing director of Honda Motor Co. Kawanabe's worries about electric vehicle infrastructure and "range anxiety" are pushing Honda to eye hydrogen fuel cells as its long-term alternate-fuel path. Kawanabe also is pushing Honda into researching fuels made from leaves and rice straw.
