Chosen because: Wynne, 52, helped increase association membership from 65 companies in 2004 to 110 as of April. Membership diversity has widened to include traditional automakers, EV makers, suppliers, government organizations and energy companies. Wynne also helped launch industry Web site goelectricdrive.com to provide information about plug-in EVs.

Quote: "The nation is at an energy policy crossroads," Wynne said in January. "Electric drive technologies -- those available today and those on the horizon -- can help the U.S. achieve greater energy security, spend more of its energy dollars domestically, expand competitiveness and create jobs, while at the same time creating a cleaner environment."
