CEO, Renault-Nissan Alliance
Chosen because: Ghosn, 57, made a bold commitment to pure electric vehicles before any other major automaker when he declared in 2007 that 10 percent of annual vehicle sales should be electric by 2020. Even when he cut budgets at Nissan and Renault, Ghosn didn't touch the EV budget. Being a leader in EVs is one of the goals of Nissan's 2012 five-year business plan. Both Nissan and Renault have aggressive EV development programs. Renault has announced four EVs to be rolled out in the next few years; Nissan has announced three.
