Chosen because: Weber, 57, is a key driver of Daimler's extensive plans for EVs. Daimler has begun leasing electric versions of its Smart small car. Starting in 2012, the automaker plans to build at least 10,000 e-Smarts a year. Daimler also plans to develop an electric car for China with BYD Co. and will be producing lithium ion batteries in a new German factory by the end of next year. And it has taken a stake in California-based Tesla Motors Inc. The company has stated it wants to be a pioneer in electric mobility. Daimler plans to roll out plug-in hybrids and fuel cell cars in every segment over the next few years.
