A turn to the dark side already a hit for Volkswagen

Americans love kids and Star Wars movies -- as evidenced by Volkswagen's Super Bowl commercial for the new 2012 Passat that will be built in the United States.

Called "The Force," the commercial was viewed by 12.8 million people late Sunday afternoon on YouTube before the Super Bowl even began. VW posted the commercial and promoted it on Facebook.

It features a little boy dressed as the evil Darth Vader from Star Wars. The youngster runs around the house trying to work "the force," on the lifecycle, the dog and even his sandwich.

Nothing works.

Finally, Dad pulls up in a car and parks it in the driveway. The little boy tries again- extending his arms out toward the car -- and the 2012 Passat springs to life, thanks to Dad clicking auto-start on the key fob from inside.
