Why did you want to work in the auto industry? I was attracted to the auto industry because it's a mature industry facing lots of change, the kind of environment that I get energized by. I really enjoy leading teams through change and identifying the many opportunities that come with it.

First automotive job: Chief information officer, AutoTrader.com, 2002.

Proudest professional achievement: It's not one thing but a series of things.

When I stop and think about the people I've worked with around the world for Cox that are now doing wonderful things for the company they work for and for themselves, I'm most proud of helping people achieve what they want to achieve.

I'm a part of three mentoring programs — two at Cox and one outside in Atlanta with some other folks.

Current challenge at work: The auto industry is undergoing a lot of transformation and for our customers it's really been a challenging couple of years. The challenge I'm most focused on is how we help them succeed in this new environment we're operating in and make the most of their opportunities and find a win-win for customers and for Manheim.

Why does the auto industry seem like a difficult environment for female executives? In the auto industry, like many industries, a lot of things get done based on networking and relationships, and it can be difficult for new people who don't have those relationships.

What you do to relax: I love to travel; I have traveled quite a bit. I love to read.

I cook, not really for sustenance, but for fun, which means I don't cook all the time but on the weekends I cook up a storm. Gardening — I like a lot of creative, old-fashioned, home-making things.
