Proudest professional achievement: When Carlos Ghosn was still chairman of the North American management committee, I was his managerial assistant. We implemented the cross-functional employee team activities here in the U.S. that were meant to challenge the organization. The teams have been recognized globally, and I really got to be a part of implementing them for two years. It was something that helped the organization take strategic steps forward in many different areas. We provided a clear foundation for the senior manager/director levels to really have a part to play in setting the strategic vision for the company.
Current challenge at work: With the Nissan Leaf, we're not only bringing a revolutionary product to market, we're trying to revolutionize the entire sales and marketing processes. We're dealing with the fundamentals of financing and selling an electric car, with supporting our dealers with training in how they work with customers, all the way through to the ownership process. It involves many partners and stakeholders, including municipalities and governments and utilities.
Dream job: I'd like to go out into outer space some day, and that's part of the reason I work for a technical company. If I can make technology more accessible to people, then at some point space travel will be within the reach of the mass market. So working on the electric vehicle and making it mass-market is really key to that. Being in a position to help make the strategic decisions that can benefit not only a company but the mass public really motivates me.
What you do to relax: Skiing, hiking, running. I go out with friends, work out. I like to have dinner parties and visit with friends and family.
