Nothing like improved sales to make a dealer happy

The smiles keep coming for Subaru dealers. April's 48 percent sales spike continues the brand's momentum. Subaru sales are up 41 percent for the year.

Other brands that should have happy dealers -- at least where sales are concerned -- include Ford, Nissan and Volkswagen. All are outpacing the industry recovery so far this year.

Toyota dealers should look for March and April's recovery to continue into May. Toyota says it will extend its strong incentives through this month as it tries to overcome its recall stumbles. Lexus also gets cut-rate leases and low-interest promotions.

Dealers, make the most of it.
