Electric cars to ‘plunder' taxes, stifle carbon cuts, German group warns

More than 80% of a fossil fuel engine's energy is lost to heat. The best fossil fuel engines have an efficiency rating of less than 20%. Electric motors are in the 94% efficiency rating range. From an engineer's perspective this is a no brainer. Electric will be the mode of choice for the future, as will cleaner sources of electricity: Wind, hydro, thermal, solar, etc.
