Welcome to the family, Porsche

No one was quite sure if Porsche was going to show up Monday night at the Volkswagen Group event. Its logo wasn't included with the other nine VW brands on display.

But, one hour into the two-hour presentation, a roaring grey Porsche 918 hybrid concept made its appearance with Porsche AG CEO Michael Macht behind the wheel.

Porsche joined the ranks of Seat, Skoda, Bentley and Bugatti.

And the integration within the VW Group is real.

Tuesday morning behind closed doors, Michael Dick, Audi's board member for technical development, said Porsche and the other brands are working together to share technical development.

The family is, indeed, one.

“We are looking at” more cooperation, Dick said. “We've been working for several years. We work very closely and it will become more” in the future.

How much more?

Dick wouldn't say.

“We are near together in our mind,” he said.

Stay tuned.
