Hey Lexus owners, try this Buick -- for free

Chrissie Thompson covers General Motors for Automotive News.
Buick-GMC dealer Dan Marquardt of Barrington, Ill., wants Toyota and Lexus owners to spend a whole day in a new GM vehicle -- for free.

He's capitalizing on a General Motors Co. program that gives dealers incentives to add more vehicles to their rental and loaner fleets. Dealers get the incentives by expanding their rental fleets between Feb. 4 and March 1, GM spokesman Tom Henderson told me today.

Marquardt told me on the showroom floor that he contacts customers and says, “You can drive a new vehicle if you want … just to try it.”
