Obama says lost auto jobs are gone

/article/20090714/ANA02/307149951

We started down this road 40 years ago when we let Washington begin to put the regulatory noose around our manufacturing sector and most specifically the Auto Industry. When the idealistic politicians decided that we needed MANDATE design when it was taking 5 years to bring a vehicle to market resulted in the biggest bonanza ever for foreign car makers in this country. You look back in the seventy's we began to buy asian and european vehicles because they were of better quality and design then our own.the car makers designed them not washington! the reason for that was need, in those country's they needed smaller more fuel efficient vehicles due to energy costs and smaller road systems. They were a natural fit for what our politicians decided to legislate us into rather than letting the market drive it and let the auto makers design them. The union costs that were negotiated when we lived 5 years after retirement(we now live about 20) are a legacy cost we needed to dela with before now. obviously Mr. Obama our health care system is working its success has become one of the challenges for us to come up with a solution for. The problem with our economy is not Healthcare its trade, without trade we will always have a problem if we are not exporting products.Contrary to what washington will tell you most major corporations know how to make money and employ workers if you let them and Americans are the smartest people on earth so we can make our own decisions in regards to what we purchase and why. now Washinton wants to legislate the energy company's how do you think thats going to work?
