Thanks, buddy
The road from the chateau to the castle is paved with generosity. Clint Eastwood, Rob Lowe, Kelly Hu and other Hollywood stars teamed with Best Buddies International and Audi of America for the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle. The 100-mile charity bicycle ride along the Pacific Coast Highway from Chateau Julien in Carmel, Calif., to the Hearst Castle Ranch in San Simeon, Calif., raised more than $3.5 million for people with intellectual disabilities. After the ride, participants celebrated with a cookout and concert at the Hearst Castle Ranch -- during which Mike Cagle, Audi of America's director of the western region, right, received a gift from Best Buddies founder Anthony Kennedy Shriver.
Hyundai helps
Finger painting isn't just kid stuff for Hyundai Hope on Wheels, an effort by more than 750 Hyundai dealers to raise awareness for youngsters battling cancer. During a presentation of $40,000 from Hyundai Hope on Wheels to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation in Hollywood, Fla., Nick Alvarez, 16, places his handprint among those of other young patients on a Hyundai Santa Fe with Rita Case of the Rick Case Automotive Group, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Joining the presentation are, from left, Frank Pena, general manager of Potamkin Hyundai, of Miami Lakes, Fla.; Nina Beauchesne, DiMaggio hospital administrator; Alvarez; Case; Tim Turbyfield, merchandising manager of Hyundai Motor America; and Dr. Brian Cauff, a specialist in pediatric hematology and oncology.
