Daimler denies report of plans to cut jobs

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) -- Daimler said it has no plans to cut more jobs and that it also will not take its truck unit public or sell parts of it, rebuffing a report in Manager Magazin.

"An IPO is not an issue," a spokeswoman for the company said. "We have a clear commercial-vehicles strategy and we are sticking to it."

The magazine earlier said in an excerpt of an article to be published on Friday that the luxury car maker aims to cut jobs – on top of 6,000 redundancies announced in 2006 -- and that it is also mulling an initial public offering and partial sale of its truck division.
