Mercedes to cut Alabama production

VANCE, Alabama — Mercedes-Benz will trim production at its Alabama plant next month. "We are adjusting our production schedule for the remainder of the year in response to market demand," said plant spokeswoman Felyicia Jerald. She provided no specifics.

In the 11 years that Mercedes has built vehicles in the United States, this is the first time that production has been reduced because of the market and economic conditions, she said.
