NADA seeks title-wash law

WASHINGTON — The National Automobile Dealers Association says federal legislation to combat title washing still is needed, even though the insurance industry now is identifying vehicles damaged in crashes or floods.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has an online database of damaged vehicles, at But it does not include vehicles from rental or self-insured fleets, or those insured by companies that don't belong to the bureau, NADA says.
