Seat CEO: VW has no plans to sell Spanish unit

Seat CEO Erich Schmitt
FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) -- Seat CEO Erich Schmitt said Volkswagen has no plans to sell the company, rejecting speculations the latter would do so because of the unit's weak unit sales, he said in an interview with Die Welt newspaper.

He said measures to improve Seat are continuing even after it returned to profitability last year.

He also reiterated the unit sales target of 800,000 by 2018. Last year, unit sales were around 445,000.
