DETROIT -- Supplier BorgWarner Inc. and customer Porsche AG won a pair of PACE collaboration awards for their work on the Porsche 911 Turbo.
The companies last week won two of the three 2007 Automotive News PACE awards for supplier-OEM collaboration. BorgWarner also won one of the 12 PACE awards for supplier innovation.
About 400 automotive engineers and industry insiders gathered here Monday, April 16, to honor the winners at a black-tie ceremony.
"Every winner that emerges from the rigorous Automotive News PACE Award review process is truly exceptional in the industry," said Keith Crain, Automotive News publisher and editor in chief. "These twelve companies are clearly playing to win - today and in the challenging global market ahead."

For BorgWarner, the three awards underscored the company's internal strategy known as the "BorgWarner difference," said CEO Tim Manganello. The awards stemmed from its work with Porsche on gasoline turbochargers with variable turbine geometry and for all-wheel-drive improvements.
"Together, Porsche and BorgWarner achieved two world-firsts in the automotive industry," Manganello said. "We are proud to have the opportunity to collaborate with Porsche, combining our creative vision and engineering expertise to help build a vehicle that delivers a truly exceptional driving experience."
The only other multiple award winners this year were Federal-Mogul Corp. and DuPont Automotive Systems.
Federal-Mogul took home awards for a new type of exhaust gasket and for a new type of diamond coating used for piston rings. DuPont Automotive won an award for its EcoConcept paint automotive system and a collaboration award with Volkswagen AG.
