Essentially a road-going version of Mercedes-Benz's F1 pace car, this muscle-bound two-door packs a 500-hp version of the German carmaker's 6.2-liter V-8 engine and is capable of 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.
BMW will also need to have its game face on to handle Audi's anticipated RS5, based on the new S5 revealed at the Geneva motor show in March. The RS5 is expected to use the same drivetrain as the existing RS4, a 4.2-liter V-8 producing an M3-equaling 420 hp.
And that's saying nothing of the new Lexus IS 500F, with a 5.0-liter V-8 good for more than 400 hp.
