GM's Andersson will address conference

Bo Andersson: GM's purchasing chief was promoted last week to group vice president.
Few in the auto industry wield more clout than Bo Andersson, General Motors' purchasing czar and a keynote speaker at the Automotive News Manufacturing Conference in Nashville in May.

Andersson is one of the industry leaders who will address the conference, scheduled for May 16-18.

He will speak at a gala dinner on the evening of May 17.

The theme of the conference will be "The Seamless Supply Chain: The managerial culture and tech-nical tools that make for high-quality, high-productivity manufacturing."

Andersson was promoted last week to the rank of group vice president.

He has been in charge of GM's global purchasing since 1999.

Andersson has played a critical role in the in the company's ongoing financial turnaround.

A native of Sweden, Andersson started in the auto industry in 1987 as a manager at Saab.

He is a member of GM's Automotive Strategy Board, Automotive Product Board and North America Strategy Board.
