Toyota to recall 2,314 Lexus SUVs in China

SHANGHAI -- Toyota Motor Corp. will recall 2,314 Lexus sport-utility vehicles in China because some loose clips from the floor carpet cover could obstruct the functioning of the accelerator pedal, China's quality watchdog said.

The Lexus RX SUVs were produced between February 2003 and May 2005, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on its Web site on Friday.

It did not say whether any accidents or personal injuries had yet been linked to the defect.

Toyota said on July 19 it would recall 367,594 SUVs in the United States due to similar problems.
