VW creates new sales organization

Wolfsburg. Volkswagen is creating a new sales organization called VW Group Retail.

The new organization will oversee the VW group's own sales outlets and authorized partners' operations.

Sales of about 28,000 new cars and revenues of about 788 million euros, or about $950 million at current exchange rates, come under the new unit's responsibility.

Stefan Mueller will shortly take over as sales group's leader. He moves over from leading Audi's German sales and marketing.

With the new organization, VW wants to "strengthen the profitability of the enterprise for the long term by creating synergies," VW group Chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder said.

Until now, VW Synko and Audi Synko handled the company's dealership operations. These will become part of sales group.
