New Bentley sedan to be launched in 2005

Crewe, England. Bentley will present a new four-door sedan based on the Continental GT coupe at the 2005 Geneva auto show in March.

"The car will have the same engine as the coupe," said Bentley boss Franz-Josef Paefgen in an interview with Automobilwoche. "Its price will be on a similar level, maybe slightly above."

The British luxury brand's two-door Continental GT with a 560hp W-12 engine costs about 164,000 euros in Germany.

To avoid long delivery times for the Bentley four-door sedan, Bentley parent company Volkswagen group is considering adding an additional assembly line at the Dresden, Germany, plant. The Dresden plant currently builds the slow-selling VW Phaeton, which shares its platform with the Continental GT.

Paefgen said a convertible version of the Continental might be launched in 2006.
