New BMW 1 series priced at 19,500 euros

Munich. BMW AG will launch its new 1 series in Germany on September 18, shortly before the opening of the Paris auto show.

The rear-wheel-drive luxury compact car at first will only be available as a five-door. The 116i basic model with 120hp will be available for 19,500 euros.

Dealership insiders said it has not been decided if air conditioning will be standard on the basic model, as it is in the compact 3 series, which costs approximately 2,000 euros more.

The 1 series will be built at the Regensburg, Germany, plant, on the same line as the 3 series, with which it shares many components.
