Monti: Some carmakers aren't complying with block exemption

Brussels. The European Union is not pleased with some automakers.

Two weeks after the end of the transition period for the new block exemption regulations EU Competition Commissioner Mario Monti told Automobilwoche that some automobile manufacturers are not following new regulations.

He stressed that "the commission is very serious about the realization of the regulations."

Together with authorities from EU member countries, the commission will remain "very alert" and if necessary "formal steps will be taken," Monti said.

He did not disclose any details.
