Citroen gets C1 name from BMW

Citroen has obtained the rights to the name C1 from BMW for use as the name of its planned city-mini car.

The C1 designation would fit below the Citroen C5 upper-medium and C3 supermini. BMW used the C1 name for its innovative but slow-selling city motorcycle, which it discontinued earlier this year.

Citroen said BMW "was very cooperative."
