Quick start for the Honda Accord Tourer

Offenbach. Sales of the Accord in Germany are exceeding Honda's expectations. The importer expected to sell 5,000 units in 2003 of the Accord, which launched January 18. By the end of March more than 2,300 units had already been sold.

The Tourer station wagon, which became available at the beginning of April, found 300 buyers within the first three weeks. Honda hopes to sell 2,500 Tourers in its first year. In the long term the sales ratio between the sedan and the station wagon is expected to be 2:1.

The sedan and station wagon are equipped with 2.0- and 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines, with 155hp and 190hp respectively.

In contrast to the Accord Aerodeck, which had a small boot, the front-wheel drive Tourer has a loading capacity of 518 liters beneath a retractable loading space cover, and 1,657 liters when fully loaded.

The compact chassis and suspension are firmly set. Only the 2.4-liter model, which is equipped with a six-speed transmission, has a driving dynamics control. Prices for the 2.0-liter version start at 23,900 euros. The 2.4-liter version costs from 28,100 euros.
