OnStar adds new services

DETROIT - OnStar Corp. in January will add a level of service for Cadillac buyers that includes the use of a concierge service for purchases or event planning, at a fee of $69.95 a month. The first year's service is included in the vehicle purchase price for select Cadillacs bought after Jan. 2, 2002.

The cellular-telephone based telematics service has renamed its existing service packages. The basic level package, now called Safe and Sound, includes automatic airbag notification, remote door unlocking and roadside assistance. It costs $16.95 per month. The Directions and Connections package includes the basic services plus route guidance and hotel reservations. It costs $34.95 per month. Both packages include access to an Internet site for trip and event information.
