Asbury names CEO

STAMFORD, Conn. - Asbury Automotive Group Inc., one of the nation's largest dealership chains, has named Kenneth Gilman as its CEO.

The appointment continues Asbury's trend of hiring executives outside the automotive business. Gilman was with The Limited Inc., a national chain of women's clothing stores, for 25 years and was vice chairman and chief administrative officer from 1993 to 2001.

Gilman, 55, replaces Brian Kendrick, who died in October.

Tom Gibson, who stepped in as interim president and CEO, remains chairman of Asbury Automotive.
