Car, truck finalists named

DETROIT - The field of candidates for the 2002 North American Car of the Year award has been narrowed to the Cadillac CTS, Ford Thunderbird and Nissan Altima.

The Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Jeep Liberty made the final cut to vie for 2002 North American Truck of the Year.

The winners in both categories will be named Jan. 6 in Detroit, during the first press day of the North American International Auto Show. Winners are determined by votes from an independent group of professional auto journalists who tested an initial field of 50 new vehicles.
