Gustavsson takes on Premier role

LONDON - Hans Gustavsson, head of Volvo Cars r&d, has been named executive director of commonality programs planning for the Premier Automotive Group.

Gustavsson, 56, will be responsible for finding components and systems that can be shared by Ford Motor Co.'s luxury brands, including Lincoln, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Aston Martin. He will report to Richard Parry-Jones, Premier's product development chief. The change takes effect in January.

Gustavsson's Volvo post will be taken by his deputy, Hans Folkesson, who joined Volvo Cars from Volvo Trucks in 2000. Folkesson, 51, previously worked as head of r&d at Skoda, and held various technical positions at Saab-Scania between 1975 and 1993. Folkesson's title will be senior vice president, head of r&d and purchasing.
