To the Editor:

I called Chevrolet's customer service line to inquire when a Suburban with diesel power would again be available. The few dealers I had called hadn't a clue and advised against diesel or suggested a pickup.

The customer service representative with whom I spoke said a diesel was not available, and the rep had no idea whether a diesel would ever be offered. I said that since Ford's Excursion is so equipped, I would recommend that General Motors offer that option.

Imagine my surprise when I was told that if the purpose of my call was to criticize GM, I would be disconnected.

I hope Bob Lutz reads this note and sends another memo to the troops. You've got more problems than just product, Mr. Lutz.
