Production table offers expanded truck data

Beginning this week, the Automotive News production table reflects estimated data for trucks built in Mexico and also the split for the CAMI Automotive Inc. trucks (Chevrolet Tracker and Suzuki Vitara). To make room for these changes, the column that listed the actual weekly numbers from the prior year has been eliminated. These numbers are available on Automotive News' Web site (www.autonews.com) in the Data Center section. The last time Automotive News altered its production table was in May 1998, when several manufacturers eliminated reporting by model each week.

  • Honda of America Manufacturing built its 1 millionth North American vehicle Monday, Nov. 26. That was 23 days ahead of last year's pace.

  • There are no plants down this week because of slow sales. There has been only one other week this year (the week of June 18) when that was the case.
