Impala dresses up for Olympics

Chevrolet is leveraging General Motors' sponsorship of the Winter Olympic Games to spotlight its Impala model. A new sport-appearance package will be shown on the Impala during the Olympic Torch Relay that will take place from December to February.

The relay run - a 65-day event in which 11,000 participants pass the Olympic flame from Atlanta to Salt Lake City - will be seen by 137 million people either live or during local media coverage, according to Don Parkinson, Chevrolet Impala/Monte Carlo brand manager.

There will be no official press event or unveiling. GM will provide a pool of 4,500 vehicles, including 40 Impalas, at the games for Olympic officials. Both the Impala and Monte Carlo will be displayed at a special Chevrolet pavilion in Salt Lake City.
