BMW net income tumbles

MUNICH, Germany - BMW AG net income fell to $286.6 million in the third quarter, a 29.4 percent decrease from the third quarter a year ago.

A big tax increase in Germany outweighed higher sales for the BMW brand.

Year to date, net income

was up 63.3 percent to $1.1 billion, the company reported Wednesday, Nov. 7.
