To the Editor:

I want to thank Jacques Nasser for his commitment to the importance of corporate citizenship that he brought to Ford Motor Co. during his time at the helm.

Because of his leadership, thousands of men and women volunteered their time and

talent to nonprofit organizations that added value beyond

words.

At Focus: HOPE, one of those organizations, Jacques' personal involvement set a tone of partnership and dedication to the community and the people we serve.

He understood the importance of minority inclusion, the reality of hunger and the high expectation young people have for the future.

The Ford team volunteered time delivering food to homebound senior citizens, who depend on the kindness of others.

The team members understood the need for a fan in the heat of summer and a spokesperson who would challenge a landlord when elevators didn't work and the building was in desperate need of repair.

They understood the need for children to take field trips that expanded their minds, and they provided vans, tickets and food for the adventure.

They met with young men and women beginning their careers; they shared lessons learned and open dialogue about racism and diversity.

Thank you, Jacques Nasser, for stepping out of the box with courage and commitment.

We will always be grateful, and we hope that you will continue to stay involved in the community.
