To the Editor:

No, SUV drivers aren't unfair to all the other drivers on the road, unless you consider pickups or any vehicle larger than a Taurus unfair. Does John K. Teahen Jr. think pickup drivers should have special training? What about those big old Caddies, and the little old ladies driving them?

To suggest that safe driving of an SUV requires special driver training is ridiculous. I've been driving an SUV for more than 10 years, but when I first made the switch from a sedan, I found the adjustment fairly simple.

I just drive the SUV as safely as I drove the sedan. I have found that most often, it's the guys driving little sports cars, darting in and out of traffic, that I have to watch out for. Maybe Teahen should recommend a special mandatory license for them.
