To the Editor:

John K. Teahen Jr.'s comments regarding the need to train SUV drivers are right on!

However, I would like to add any type of van or minivan. As an avid motorcyclist and sports-car enthusiast, I have become very cognizant of the lethal driving habits of the most notorious drivers on the road. I am referring to suburban soccer moms.

While I surely recognize the need for a vehicle that can safely carry the neighborhood team, I have witnessed the old "$50,000 Lincoln Navigator Lane Change" way too many times.

Sure, the auto guys are making vehicles safer and, of course, big is better. Unfortunately, a Porsche Boxster or even a Cadillac Seville is no match for an untrained soccer mom and a 5,000-pound SUV.
