Delphi lands GM deal

DETROIT - Delphi Automotive Systems Corp. of Troy, Mich., has been given a contract from General Motors for its advanced passive occupant detection system. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The contract calls for the technology, which senses the presence of someone in the front passenger seat and tailors airbag and seat belt performance, to be used on GM vehicles beginning this year and running through 2004.
