BMW makes allowances

The Sept. 11 attacks have prompted BMW Financial Services LLC to allow customersin New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., to defer October car payments as long as 90 days at no charge.

In addition, surviving family membersof those who died in the attack who had a leaseor loan with BMW Financial are allowed to returnthe vehicles at no charge.

Two families have turned in vehicles.

BMW Financial in September also suspended late fees and credit bureau reporting for lease and financial loan customers.
